More about Jane

Jane Tanner’s most recent book, Girl from the Sea is written by Margaret Wild and has been described as a lyrical masterpiece. As such, it is a perfect echo to their first brilliant collaboration.
Jane began illustrating picture books in 1984 with Margaret Wild’s There’s a Sea in my Bedroom. It was shortlisted for the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal for Illustration. Over her long career, Jane has collaborated with many authors illustrating award-winning books now considered Australian classics including Drac and the Gremlin, written by Allan Baillie, Wolf, written by Margaret Barbelet and Storm Whale written by Sarah Brennan. Jane has also written and illustrated a number of her own titles.
