Our History Books Illustrated was established in 1988 as a gallery for original Australian book illustration in Melbourne with changing exhibitions often featuring particular artists with newly launched books. Particularly memorable were miniature exhibitions featuring tiny framed works by well known illustrators from around Australia: There was Strike a Light ! with match box size pictures in 1999; The Artist /The Illustrator; The Recession Exhibition in 2000 and in 2008, Weeny Wonders for the CBCA National Conference. In 2008 Books Illustrated began a new focus to promote Australian children’s book illustration through exhibitions in regional Australian galleries and at overseas venues. |
