Gus Gordon
is an illustrator and author. He lives with his wife and three kids on the Northern beaches of Sydney. He has illustrated and written nearly 80 books for children.
Gus's illustrations are known for their loose, energetic line work, mixed media (most notably collage) and nonsensical humour. His writing is almost always anthropomorphic - where animals take the place of humans in the narrative. This most likely stems from a long love of Kenneth Grahame’s Wind in The Willows.
His picture book, Wendy (Penguin) about a motorcycle riding stunt chicken, was selected as a Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Notable Book in the 2010 Book of the Year Awards. His new picture book Herman and Rosie was recently sold at auction in New York to US publisher Neal Porter Books (Macmillan). It has since been sold to publishers in France and Germany where it was also contested at auction.
Gus likes cheese, books and music and people who like cheese, books and music. Gus's websites: www.facebook.com/GusGordonbooks
