He worked at a variety of jobs - including undercoating the Sydney Harbour Bridge - while building a career as an illustrator.

He has illustrated over 360 picture books, junior novels and educational readers. This includes approximately 8500 published drawings.

His recent books have seen a return to real painting and moving away from rendering on the computer. His illustrative style has recently been energised by lots of drawing and engaging with students in school sessions all around Australia.

He lives in Melbourne, but loves getting out of it. He is a keen gardener and loves being a grandparent.
