Andrew McLean grew up in the Victorian country town of Bairnsdale. He has been a full-time artist for more than twenty years.
Many of the picture books he has illustrated have been award winners including My Dog, written by John Heffernan, A Year on our Farm, written by Penny Matthews and You`ll Wake the Baby, written by Catherine Jinks which won the Children`s Book Council of Australia`s inaugural Book of the Year: Early Childhood award in 2000.
Andrew says `I like drawing for young children. I am attracted to the simplicity, honesty and directness of the picture book.`
