Books Illustrated at Gasworks Arts Park |
A new chapter for Books Illustrated
After 15 years, Books Illustrated has relocated from Gasworks Arts Park in Albert Park. The historic Gatehouse Building was a wonderful home for us for over 15 years. We greatly enjoyed being part of the continuing development of the Gasworks Arts Park. Over the last few years, as well as the changing exhibitions at Books Illustrated gallery and bookshop, we have curated exhibitions for many Australian regional galleries, conferences, festivals and international book fairs, particularly in Asia. Invitations for us to do this have been increasing and we decided to follow these opportunities to promote Australian picture books and their creators to a wider audience. To enable us to do this, we have changed our program and venue – moving to smaller premises where we can focus on planning these exhibitions and be more flexible to travel. Through our website we continue to promote our exhibitions, workshops and activities, as well as sales of original illustrations; limited edition prints; books – including signed and first edition picture books. We will continue our consultation services and workshops and look forward to participating in seminars and conferences related to our interests and expertise. Since then it has grown and moved to a larger, very handsome two storey building at Gaswork Arts Park which houses not only an exhibition space but also a specialist children's bookshop.
